Train underfloors

The underfloor area of trains requires special protection as multiple fire risks converge in this vulnerable hotspot: Not only may friction or external influences generate large amounts of heat and flying sparks while the train is rolling along, but its on-board technical components such as cables or batteries also carry major fire potential. And if an outbreak of fire occurs during a tunnel passage, it is usually impossible to extinguish flames and evacuate people on the spot – with disastrous consequences. Therefore, long fire containment periods are a life-saving must.
