KERAFIX^® Cooling-Strip F offers outstanding cooling properties in case of fire, extending the fire resistance duration of fire protection constructs. KERAFIX^® Cooling-Strip F is made of minerals which absorb large amounts of heat once an activation temperature of approx. 100 °C is reached and release approx. 26 % of water of crystallisation. The application of KERAFIX^® Cooling-Strip F and its special 2K variant coated on one side with KERAFIX^® Flexpress 100 (ablative and intumescent) provides solutions with fire resistance periods from 30 minutes to over 90 minutes for wood, aluminium and steel constructs.

Properties

KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F is a fire protection material with an ablative effect, containing substances which are subject to chemical change in an endothermic reaction when exposed to heat and absorb energy in the process.
This mainly causes the release of combined water.
It is this absorption of energy that reduces the transfer of heat to the side facing away from the fire more effectively than standard thermal insulation.
In the end, a porous, inorganic carcass will remain, which also has a thermally insulating effect.
